When I grow up... I wonder if....

A blog that I follow called hey hollywood blog did a recent post about all the things she wonders about herself once she grows up... Listen, I don't think we can put a number or a time on the official "Grown Up" age because lets be real at 16 I thought "when I grow up" would be at age 22 and now I am 22 clinging so tightly to the phrase "when I grow up"...

Oh goodness....

when I grow up... I wonder if..

  • I will still immediately search for a quarter upon seeing a gum ball machine

  • Still take awfully unattractive pictures of myself and share them with the public because I think they are hilarious

  • With that being said will I still let Tyle  make up photo shoots where I obviously star in

  • I  still buy clothes 8 sizes too big for me for the sake of them not touching my body

  •  floral prints and that face still be my go to

  • I still rock a lot of animal earrings

  • I still cry about how much I love my best friends to the Kings of Leon song "Use Somebody" in the middle of the bar

  • I will master the art of sober flirting with out sweating through my shirt

  • I will be apart of any housewives show.. fingers crossed for Atlanta

  • I will have a golden retriever named Sundance that runs, bikes and swims with me

  • I will still think dress up parties are the bee's knee's

  • I will still be saying bee's knee's

  • I still take every opportunity to wear a mustache

Cheers!

Spring Break Tips!

Guys, I had the best spring break ever.  I know March is almost over and we are all focusing on SUMMER BREAK now but I've decided to make a complied list of tips for having the best spring break ever!

Maybe book mark it or save it for next year or perhaps it will help with your upcoming summer vacation.

So first lets talk, booking spring break, obviously places book up really fast- the group I went with decided we wanted to go to Panama City Beach, Florida  and started looking for places in December. I have used a website called VRBO for two years and it has been pretty helpful in booking vacation rentals. The website also has a great security agreement so if you get screwed over or scammed VRBO will help you out as much as possible.

  • Book a condo with a full kitchen & a washer and dryer so you can cook yourself and save some money!
  • Bring yourself some extra towels and blankets, your condo should have them but I'd say it is pretty helpful to have these extra items- unlike a hotel you cannot request more, you get what you get.
  • Book by January this guarantees you a spot for Spring Break and it gets you excited for something after Christmas!
Staying Healthy

We all work pretty hard on our Spring Break Bods and its hard not to let it go once you get to spring break after, all its what you have been working for but here are some helpful hints to let you have a good time but not feel like a bloated ball of greasy food and alcohol.
  • Go grocery shopping the first day!
    • As a group we decided we only wanted to eat out twice during the week and order pizza another night. On the other nights we cooked dinner for each other this worked out perfectly because we all chose what we wanted to cook and bought items accordingly; for example we had a grilled chicken night, a mexican night and a spaghetti night!
    • For breakfast one of the girls with us brought a huge bag of quinoa and made us breakfast quinoa for the mornings, it is delicious, healthy and so easy to make; you can find the recipe HERE
    • Buy fruits and veggies to snack on throughout the day; I know as girls we say IF IM DRINKING IM NOT EATING to save calories, don't do this!
  • Try to be active!
    • I know its vacation but if you are feeling up to it try to go to the gym at least a few of the days, even if its just walking there and back! Being active will help with hangovers and it will help you feel better in a bathing suit

  • Get Smart Party Pills
    • Honestly these little babies saved our lives! They are a natural supplement you take with your first drink of the night and you wake up like you did not consume those 6 vodka waters at all. They are about 2.00 each at a Sprouts or Whole Foods but I promise they are worth it.
Get a Party Card
  • When we got to PCB we invested in the 50.00 party card it gets you into certain clubs for free on different nights and free drinks within a certain time period- the downside to having the party card was that we had to get to the bar within the time or else we had to pay the cover charge. The free drinks were great and if we got there at the beginning of the time period we were able to have more than just one. However, there is an option to get a party card to one club, this gets you into the club free at anytime and free drinks within a certain time period. The upside to a one club party card is you can go at anytime you want, the downside is that you can only get into that club and have to pay covers at others. To each there own!
Other Things!
  • Don't drink and drive.. obviously but cabs can be really cheap at spring break because they have group taxis that split fee's- so don't do it!
  • Drink lots a water!
  • Open yourself up to meeting new people!
  • Visit the beach at sunrise
  • Visit the beach AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE
  • Get the find my friends app, this is a super helpful app during the break because separation is inevitable.

hopefully those are pretty helpful hints!
SPRANNNG BREAK FOREVER!

treat YO'SELF 22

Before I start quoting Taylor Swift I need you guys to know that my 22nd birthday snuck up on me.

My birthday fell at a strange time; last week I was at KACTF, a theatre conference and within the next week my closest pals and I will be celebrating spring break in Florida; So with stressing out about competition, rehearsing, being gone, draining all of our sad theatre sorrows in boxes of limerita's, saving money for Spring Break, still planning the trip, TRYING TO DO EVERY DETOX IN THE WORLD BECAUSE IM ABOUT TO BE IN A BATHING SUIT; my birthday fell by the wayside.

22 is a strange age, I mean 21 was great, everyone is ready to party with you, buy you drinks, see you cry/naked/happy/passedout but with 22........ are you supposed to have a classier party? Is this the age I serve wine and cheese at my nicely decorated apartment? At this age it is unacceptable to get really close to all your friends faces and tell them how much you love them? Is it frowned upon to make -out in a bar? I need to know!

lots of anxiety happened a few days before the big two. two.

at midnight on my 22nd birthday I came home from the gym around 12:30 A.M.
(sometimes I go to the gym late; no one's there, it gives me full range of the gym and it's kinda neat)

I walked into my apartment and my lovely roommates of course had "22 by Taylor Swift" blaring, balloons everywhere and a candle lit cheese cake ready to make my first birthday wish! They are honestly the best and so fab- here's a shameless plug for my cute fashionista roommate http://misterratcliff.blogspot.com/

anyway my roommates Tyle and Austin made the first few hours of being 22 extremely special, I love them for that.

the rest of the day was all up to me, it just so happened that I did not have class or work on my birthday so I got to fill the day with stuff  I wanted to do!

-----> which brings me to this small segment of

TREAT YO'Self 22

If you think your birthday is going to be less than stellar, you need to take the day into your own hands and treat yourself like the birthday queen you are.

1. Start your day off with uninterrupted time of doing something you love.

this could be anything you love- if reading is your thing, Read! Cook! Paint! Sleep! Do something you love doing; for me it was running and yoga. If you start your birthday off with something you love it is almost a guaranteed great day.
My Polar Watch had a cake on it all day :)

2. Go to your favorite treat place and shamelessly get your favorite item.

Maybe you love bagels from Panera but always refrain or maybe you really love their mac and cheese! It's your birthday go get your favorite thing and treat yo self. I went to a smoothie place and got a green monster smoothie FOR FREE! (pull the birthday card everywhere too!)

3. Listen to My Humps by Fergie
I promise. Just do it!

4. Go get a mani/pedi/hair blow out/ massage/ or do these things at home.

It's your birthday!! You deserved to be pampered! So whatever beauty thing you need at the moment, go do it!

5. Wear your favorite accessory (even if its ridiculously obnoxious)

You have a floppy sun hat you love? Wear it! That weird belt buckle no one but you likes? Wear It!  It is 2 degrees outside and you want to wear a flower head band?- DO IT! I think on your birthday you should be able to wear anything you want. You were born this day- this day gave you life and the need to express yourself, so do it! Wear whatever- be who you are- its your day.

6.  Other small tips to remind yourself just how special you are on your birthday!

  • Screen shot all the nice text and instagram/facebook shout outs you get, refer to them on a different day and relive your birthday bliss all over again
  • kiss someone who thinks you are wonderful
  • revisit old songs you used to love
  • walk in and out of your house to get reoccurring love from your cute doggy
  • look at yourself in the mirror and tell yourself facts about you I am beautiful, strong, independent- Sounds lame but its really empowering
  • watch your favorite movie
  • call your grandma

We are completely capable of having the best birthday- with no actual party. 22 is fun cause you are stuck in the middle of how adult am I and how young can I be? No matter what age, your birthday matters. So treat yourself, be with friends and embrace your age happily.

"happy, free, confused and lonely at the same time"
~ you didn't really think I could go with out quoting it at all?

Cheers!

if you have to fart in the gym

I have to be honest; the title of this post is deceiving, I did not bring you here to talk about farting in the gym. Although if you came here with hopes of tips and strategies for farting in the gym,I'll give you two-

  • walk really fast, like as fast as you can with out looking nuts and let it out... it will mask the sound of any fart and you walking really fast will get you away from any stench you leave behind.

  • Make your way into the lifting area of the gym... where all the big, sweaty men are--
1. you are around a bunch of big sweaty men; no one will assume you, out of all of them, were the one who farted, unless you are a big sweaty hairy man.. in that case own it.
2. They usually are so in the zone, with headphones in and everything, no one will notice- so confidently break the wind sister.
With that being said, I actually brought you here (YOU- being my closest friends and the weird internet traffic I get from Malaysia) to share my intentions.

Here's the thing- this is about to be a long post and its not going to have my usual quirks or end line of enlightenment. I am pretty proud of this little blog I have started, not because it has blown up or because I get a lot of readers but because I am sharing and learning about myself through this blogging experience. This blog, to me, is a confidence thing. It was my first personal writing project and since I have started this blog I have expanded my writing projects. I have been more confident about putting my writing material out there and less scared of failure.

Yet, I still struggle with posting because I spend the week trying to come up with clever post as opposed to what I just want to write about. I feel like my post have been an array of quirky how to's & just live your life enlightenment post. Don't get me wrong I love me some how to's and list post, I do! I am a fan of other blogs that do just that. I do get scared that people aren't going to read my post because  "Oh look another 20-something blog about being weird and stressed" I also see myself straying away from topics that truly concern me because I do not want to be too dark--

Here's what I want; I want to write about getting through a run or a workout with out seeming like a  crazy gym freak although working out has been a big part of my life for quite sometime now!  So who the f cares IF I LOVE IT SO MUCH.

I also want to be a huge freak and post about yoga and how it really is an emotional release and how you feel a zen happiness when you let yourself fall into it. Yoga is good for your soul- as pretentious as that sounds.

I want to write about the fact that I am officially going backpacking through Europe in September and that is my single driving force to my post-grad life. That scares the poop out of me because I have spent that last four years dedicated to Theatre and Performance and now my whole being is about getting there. Saving money to get there, working a lot to get there, planning my life around getting there. Is this okay? Why am I not full force working towards performing- why has travel suddenly taking reigns to my future.

I want to write about texting in regards to dating and how in the world can a small nano message can mean 508 different things to people. "That person put dots.... what? are they mad?"Universal texting rule dots mean something......   "He said Hey :) he's totally into me right?? or wait, is he coming on a little too strong? THAT SMILEY HAS TO MEAN HE ONLY WANTS SEX!

I want to write about fears, experiences, maybe my outfit of the day if I'm feeling super artsy or like I could potentially be apart of the Pretty Little Liars Cast; this post is to tell you that I am about to have freedom with my writing and maybe just maybe I will relate to some of you- in any way- not just a funny way. Even if its just to you readers in Malaysia (Please don't STEAL my identity)

Cheers!

letter to you.

I am a huge fan of letters; When I first started reading blogs online I found a woman that wrote a letter to her 20-something self and I have read that letter over and over again.

So just for fun, I wrote a letter to my younger self;

Hello little one!

Stop worrying about if you're fat. Seriously, we are all fat at one time or another. If you just calm down- you can save yourself from a lot of struggle with your body image. So what if you are a little more round than you'd like to be; there are far more things you will bring to the table than a perfect figure.

Stop worrying about the relationship you have with your family; as you grow they will admire your bravery and independence. Your father adores you and your sister thinks you are great.

Do not be afraid to show that you are scared. Sure, you have eagerly waited and have counted down the days till you graduate high school but it is okay to hug your mom a little tighter- it is okay to let her know that she is needed. Sometimes your independence gets the best of you-- it is okay to need people. It is especially okay to need your Mom.

Please, please, please get rid of that hat you think is so adorable. The one that has a bow on it, that you bought to show your quirky side- no you look like a middle aged gardener.
Never get rid of your gorilla suit- it was such a happy purchase and it will continue to make you happy as you grow.

Do not freak out when you realize your first college choice wasn't the best one. Embrace where you are and the friendships you make. Really love every time you see Demi, surprisingly she will become one of your best friends - she will make your soul happy & you will return the favor.  Change is okay. A big change is okay. You will be okay on your own.

Your next college will you bring you a lot.
It will satisfy that seven year old girl who only wanted to be an actress, it will awaken a love for writing and it will introduce you to a weirdo who you will be certain was born to be your friend. Spoiler: you guys aren't lovers but you are roommates and that will also satisfy that ten year old girl who ONLY WANTED AN APARTMENT FULL OF FAB GAY MEN.

Always go for the impossible. Just do it. Take chances because chances for you turn into opportunities. Marissa will meet you in California. You say it now as a joke- but it will come true.

Most things will be okay eventually, but not everything will be. Sometimes you’ll put up a good fight and lose. Sometimes you’ll hold on really hard and realize there is no choice but to let go.

You have a full life ahead of you. Don't be afraid to show people who you really are ( you will get more and more confident as the years go)
Be weird. Embrace it.

With love,

Sierra Carter

pHotO TreNds- (explicit content)

Photo trends are so fun. I think it is really great that we can inspire each other by photo trends. We can inspire each other with out #ootd (outfit of the day) #tbt (throwback thursday) #mcm (man crush monday) #pohf (pictures of hipsters taking pictures of food) #wcw (woman crush wednesday)...
okay, you get it.

A photo trend that has come along and gone~ is the feeties in bath picture.

You know the ones where girls toes are under the faucet and the water may or may not be running and there may or may not be bubbles but it is a super relaxing photo where they caption it with something like....

"Much needed relaxation time"
" #relax #bath #bubbles"
"treating myself"

Here is an example of my favorite bath pictures, my friend +Kelsey Fisher  is just as fab as ever and she  has taken bath time to a special girl time-- She makes me want to take a cutest bath ever.
*notice that Martini?! notice how cute everything is!

I am really jealous that I missed this trend and never posted a picture like this.

So I am just going to jump on the bath photo trend RIGHT NOW- with new bath photos so there is no chance I will miss the trend again.

This is my Britney Inspired bath photo. #hardday maybe the bath will help.

"Oh whats this, MRS.WASHINGTON CAME TO VISIT THE BATH. (no homo)

bubble beard 0o0o0o0o0o

and here's my foot at a different angle. Still #relaxing~

"Hey its okay... I'm Graduating from College"

Okay, for as long as I can remember I have been kind of a magazine slut. My obsession started with Tiger Beat, BRAVO and Pop Star.  Justin Timberlake with his frosted tips, Britney Spears with her belly shirts, and the FREE PULL OUT POSTERS plastered the cover of these teen magazines and I am pretty sure the pictures were plastered all over my teenage room.

From Pop Star I moved on to Seventeen Magazine where I felt super mature because I started reading it way before I was 17. (Rebel)

Then from Seventeen I moved to my Mother's naughty copies of  Cosmo and Glamour magazine. (Rebel x 12443)

I would read through these magazines as quickly as possible taking in all the beautiful women, blushing every time I saw the word sex and almost always sweating through my shirt once seeing the "Crazy Sex Positions" article with all the little cartoon people demonstrating positions.......... I'd really like to say a lot has changed but I still sweat of embarrassment when I read those articles.

Seriously though Cosmo, what is a carnal crisscross or a passion propellor?? Who names these positions?

Something that I look forward to, that doesn't make me sweat, is the small "Hey, its Okay" portion of Glamour Magazine.

If you are not familiar with this section of the magazine its just a page of small relatable advice. Examples would be:

Hey it's okay:
.... if you think its weird to have orange juice with out champagne
....if you buy the cheap toilet paper
....to buy a onesie to wear exclusively in your living room

So you get it.
I thought at this particular time in my life it would be appropriate to make a

"Hey it's okay.... I am graduating from college version"

Hey! It's OKAY

....to practice how your hair and face should look in a graduation cap.

...to skip class for no reason at all your final semester; professors will be more forgiving than bosses

...to change your answer every time some one ask "So what's the plan after graduation?"

...If you throw in "I'm thinking about Grad School" even if you are not at all thinking about Grad School.

...to compile a list of amazing things to do in your last semester of college and instead watch trashy television

... if you cry every time you apply for a job or look at your resume

...if you chase your vodka with wine- embrace the college hangovers

...if you feel haunted, terrified and ecstatic all at the same time

...if you hold on to hope and hold on to the promises you made yourself when you were a wee baby freshman

...if you have faith in your "seemingly useless degree" you made a decision to major in that degree for a reason, stay true to your ambitions; even when you cross the stage and people decide you need a practical job.. those people did not phase you in your first steps of college IT IS ABSOLUTELY OKAY if they do not phase you in your last
steps.

....it is okay to not have it all together; YOU ARE GOING TO BE A COLLEGE GRADUATE.

.. it's okay to not take that title lightly.

best wishes & cheers soon-to-be Grads.

xoxo-
